The building, was a ‘temporary’ structure erected circa 1884 by the Marquis of Bute and opened on 24^th September 1884. The officiating priest was resident in Strathtay where he conducted services in the Church of the Holy Cross in the grounds of the present house, Tigh an Tuir, which was then a retreat for nuns from Dundee.

By 2002, it was in a state of disrepair and was removed from the site for remedial works and reassembly on an alternative site at Dull where it is now a private house.

The new building was commissioned by the diocese of Dunkeld, designed by James F. Stephen Architects, and erected in 2005 to replace the ‘tin’ church.
