“Around Aberfeldy”

Around Aberfeldy first appeared in 1970 as Strathtay History Trail and was a contribution to European Conservation Year.   It remained in print until the 1980s when the society expanded its range of interests beyond history and archaeology.

A new book with the title Around Aberfeldy – A historical trail was published in 1994.  The content had been updated to reflect not just the Society’s widening scope of topics but also the changing interests of the public.

Around Aberfeldy : Fit vestibule for heaven was published in 1998 after substantial amendments and improvements were made to the previous text.

This edition was replaced in 2008 with a revised edition, Around Aberfeldy – A Brief History.  The format of the book was completely changed in to two distinct sections:  An introduction to the history of Strathtay and Aberfeldy followed by a Gazeteer listing many sites of archaeological and historic significance along with their grid references.

In August 2025, the text was updated and new photographs and maps were included, and a new edition was published.

This booklet can be purchased at the Aberfeldy Watermill Bookshop, Gallery & Cafe (www.aberfeldywatermill.com) and at the Locus Centre in The Square.
